Short Circuit (1986)

Something wonderful has happened…Number Five is alive!

Short Circuit coverFive military robots are being developed and tested as the ultimate in fighting machines but a random lighting strike short circuits robot Number Five and sets him off on his own path. This comedy adventure classic stars Ally Sheedy and Steve Guttenberg and is pure fun for the entire family.

Historical Note: Short Circuit was made well before Stampede was founded, but it was the first stepping stone in the path to having our own company. Our own S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock had been working in relative obscurity, making educational films for schools and libraries. They wrote the script for Short Circuit in their spare time. Separately and together they’d written four other “spec” scripts, but hadn’t been able to sell them. This one found its way to agent Nancy Roberts (now Stampede President) Producer David Foster, and finally to director John Badham (of Saturday Night Fever and WarGames fame.) It became a “go” movie almost overnight. Maddock and Wilson were on their way.
