For Alien: Resurrection we designed and built the creature called the Newborn which was born directly out of the queen alien. The puppet was controlled by hydraulics and electronics. The hydraulic end was managed by two systems of computers that continually cross checked information. The reason being that the puppet had to perform in very close proximity to Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder and we couldn't take any chances on having a hydraulic piston misfire or go off in the wrong direction when it was so close to the actresses.
